About Bandar Abbas
Bandar Abbas (Bandar-e Abas) is located on north of Strait of Hormuz in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. With an altitude of 10 meters above the sea level, Bandar Abbas is very humid and warm. That is the reason why the city — and the province in general — has very short winters.
Bandar Abbas is a developing city and enjoys a valuable geo-strategic location. With rich oil resources, fishing and pearl fishing, mining, metals, shipbuilding and imports and exports of goods are the main industries of the province. As Strait of Hormuz is located in this region, as the only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean, the province is strategically important in the country.
The city is of great importance from historical, cultural aspects and its tropical nature and coastal area are the main attractions of the city.
People of Hormozgan are either Aryan immigrants or Arabs immigrants. They are symbol of coexistence of people of different races. There are many dialects of Persian, Bandar, Arabic, Ballochi, and even some words of English are spoken in colloquial languages of the region.
